Description

10 DOWNING STREET LION DOORKNOCKER

This stunning cast iron doorknocker is a replica of the one that adorns the most famous door in the world, 10 Downing Street.

Designed by Kenton Couse and originally installed in the 1770's, the Downing Street door was finished in the Georgian style and featured a brass name plate and a cast iron lion doorknocker.

The lion has long been used a British symbol, representing bravery, nobility, royalty, strength, stateliness and valour.

This Downing Street doorknocker, like the original, is constructed from cast iron, noted for its weight and durability.

The doorknocker is accompanied by a strong hinge, with the knocking handle hanging below the lion's face.

The face itself exhibits intricate detailing, with life-like features and an imposing mane.

The doorknocker comes with a painted finish, sympathetically done to enhance details and increase durability.

Fixing screws and striking plate are included, meaning the doorknocker is easy to mount on a door of your choice.

A beautiful item, perfect for adding a touch of impressive historic style to any front door.
